The quick list is a side panel for scratch-pad to-dos. It sits outside the formal task system — no statuses, types, or projects — and is meant for the small items that come up between meetings. Your list is saved automatically and stays in sync across every tab and device; see Realtime updates.
Opening the panel
The quick list is a side panel, not a full page. Open or close it with the keyboard shortcut documented in Keyboard shortcuts (by default, L when your focus isn't in an editable field).
What each item is
A quick-list item has:
- Text — the to-do itself.
- Completed — a checkbox state.
Items belong to you, not to a workspace or a single device — your list follows you wherever you sign in.
Workflows
Add an item
Type in the empty row at the bottom of the panel. Press Enter to commit it and move to a fresh empty row. The panel always keeps one trailing empty row ready for the next item.
Check off an item
Click the checkbox. Completed items stay in the list with strike-through styling. There's no automatic clean-up of completed items — remove them yourself when you no longer need them.
Reorder items
Drag a row by the handle on its left. The new order is saved right away. Empty rows can't be dragged.
Delete an item
Press Escape in an empty row to delete it, or use the row's delete button. Deletion is immediate.
Save explicitly
Edits save on their own when you click away or after a reorder, but you can force a save with Cmd/Ctrl+S while your focus is inside the panel.
Staying in sync
The quick list updates on its own as your data changes — type something in one tab and it appears in the others within a moment, with no need to refresh. The same sync keeps it current across your devices.
See Realtime updates for how this works across the rest of Ceum.
Keyboard shortcuts
- L — toggle the panel open or closed (when focus isn't in an editable field).
- Enter — commit the current row and create a new empty row below.
- Escape (empty row) — delete the row.
- Escape (non-empty row) — leave edit mode.
- Cmd/Ctrl+S — save manually.
Tips and edge cases
- The trailing empty row is always there. It isn't a real item until you type into it.
- No tagging, no linking. If you find yourself wanting categorization, the item probably belongs in Tasks instead.
- No history. Quick-list items aren't tracked in any changelog. Once deleted, they're gone.
- Cmd/Ctrl+S in the panel doesn't open the browser's save dialog. The panel handles the shortcut itself.
On mobile
The quick list is on mobile too, with the same autosave and cross-device sync:
- Open it from the right edge-swipe panel — drag in from the right edge of the screen; see Mobile navigation.
- Reorder with a long-press on a row, then drag it to its new spot.
- Edits made offline are queued and sync when you reconnect — see Offline support.
